Louis Vuitton embarks on a bold new beauty adventure. This autumn, the French luxury maison is set to unveil its very first make-up collection under the label La Beauté Louis Vuitton, joining the ranks of esteemed fashion houses like Hermès, Céline, and Prada, which have all recently taken their first steps into cosmetics. While the project remains shrouded in secrecy, here’s everything we know so far.
From its inception, Louis Vuitton has seamlessly intertwined travel with beauty. The Maison was one of the first to launch innovative beauty cases — meticulously crafted to transport delicate toiletries, perfumes, and a range of cosmetics with elegance. In the 1920s, Louis Vuitton designed luxurious powder compacts, brushes, and mirrors that are now coveted archival treasures. Bespoke kits created for the soprano Marthe Chenal and an exquisite toiletry case made for the Polish composer Jan Paderewski further underscore its pioneering commitment to beauty. Moreover, the very first Louis Vuitton handbags for women were ingeniously conceived with multiple compartments to accommodate the daily essentials of that era, including cosmetics.
It is only fitting that after the spectacular launch of its Perfume Project with Jacques Cavallier as Chief Perfumer, Louis Vuitton now turns the page to introduce La Beauté Louis Vuitton. This exciting new chapter in luxury beauty will be led by industry legend Dame Pat McGrath, DBE — widely hailed as “the most influential makeup artist in the world”. McGrath will redefine the Maison's approach to cosmetics with her unparalleled vision.
“Having worked backstage at Louis Vuitton fashion shows for over 20 years, I am thrilled to now play such a pivotal role in launching La Beauté Louis Vuitton. This collection is the epitome of extraordinary craftsmanship, creativity, and innovation. The beauty universe extends far beyond mere product—and what we are creating will elevate luxury beauty to unprecedented heights,” McGrath states in the official announcement.
Pietro Beccari, Chairman and CEO of Louis Vuitton, adds, “La Beauté Louis Vuitton is a natural evolution of our business, driven by our unwavering commitment to quality, innovative formulae, and creativity. Through this new venture, we have the opportunity to enrich our clients’ everyday lives with both purpose and pleasure, while continuing to honour our heritage.”
So, what might the new line include? While details remain closely guarded — with only a select few having previewed the products under strict NDAs ahead of the official launch in September — we do know that Louis Vuitton will debut its make-up range with two signature products: lipsticks and eye-shadow palettes. Both items will be unmistakably branded and crafted from the finest ingredients available. As autumn approaches, we eagerly anticipate experiencing this luxurious new collection in Louis Vuitton boutiques worldwide.
Stay tuned for further updates.
