Mirroring the warmth of the festive season, Prada’s yearly holiday collection The December Issue is all about intermingling, regrouping and connecting. This festive collection features menswear, womenswear, and accessories that encourage dressing up for the holidays while staying comfortable and most importantly, having fun!
The campaign, shot by a frequent Prada collaborator Willy Wanderperre, presents fashion as a conversation that transcends generations by blending styles from different eras and crafting pieces with contrasting textures and forms to create a sense of juxtaposition that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
A holiday campaign is never just about the products, as it presents the fashion house with an opportunity to not only showcase the new collection but to simultaneously explore and expand the brand’s personality and artistic vision. This festive campaign stars Prada ambassadors Maya Hawke, Kelvin Harrison Jr, KARINA and Louis Partridge. The trio is seen enjoying tea time before dinner, playing checkers and chatting candidly, while collection pieces are displayed on the dinner table alongside artisanal treats from the renowned Milanese Pasticceria Marchesi 1824. The tasty treats are the focus of two additional videos for the campaign. The firstfeatures Maya as she shows you how to make the perfect holiday beverage, a rich dark chocolate topped with whipped cream. In the second, Kelvin shares his take on the festive mince pies, made with traditional ingredients and a modern twist. The recipes are available in the videos’ descriptions for those who’d like to taste these delicious must-try treats for your festive gatherings.
Menswear focuses on tuxedo-inspired designs infused with sportswear influences, offering a relaxed yet refined aesthetic. Tailored tuxedos and casual parkas create the perfect fashion combo that feels both effortless and intentional. Womenswear offers playful takes like tuxedo shirts reimagined as dresses or tailored jumpsuits. Wool cashmere coats and turtleneck sweaters add cosiness to the collection, while statement shearling-lined parkas styled with the flourish of an opera coat add a dramatic twist to utilitarian outerwear, incorporating eye-catching elements into traditional silhouettes.
And as always, Prada’s accessory department steals the spotlight in this Holiday collection, both for their charm and their originality. Iconic pieces like the Galleria bag debut in a micro version, perfect for those looking to make a subtle yet bold statement. A fresh take on classic designs, of course, a staple of any Prada collection, maintaining the house’s familiar elegance and utility with the Arqué, the Duet, and the Buckle bags. To top off a festive silhouette, a plush bow adds elegance and a cheeky accent to any outfit, no matter how formal. For men, the collection introduces elevated cross-body styles and sleek backpacks crafted in soft leather and Re-Nylon, calling back to that balance of utility and sophistication. Running seamlessly with the theme of nostalgia, Prada surprises us with the return of the Trick, a whimsical robot toy originally launched in 2004 – that can now be considered vintage – reimagined for 2024. This neat little embellishment brings a sense of playful nostalgia to the season, appearing on bags and outfits as a nod to the return to simplicity and childlike wonder that often warms our hearts around this time of year.
