For his latest Burberry collection, Daniel Lee takes us on a weekend trip beyond London’s borders—straight into the heart of the British countryside. Here’s everything you need to know about the Autumn-Winter 2025/2026 collection.
Welcome to the British Countryside
What’s the favourite pastime of Londoners? Escaping the city for the great British outdoors, unwinding in nature away from the urban hustle and bustle. “Think of them as weekend escapes. It’s that great Friday night exodus from London to the countryside for long, rainy walks and a chance to disconnect in the great outdoors. It’s day trips to grand stately homes,” Daniel Lee explained backstage, describing the inspiration behind his autumn-winter collection. The starting point? The faded grandeur of British stately homes, their bohemian characters, and the timeless elegance of classic dress codes.
So, what does a Londoner pack for a weekend retreat? Classic trenches in embossed leather, velvet dresses and trenches, and corduroy brocade jackets that echo the flocked floral wallpapers of country houses. Jacquard-woven coats borrow motifs from antique tapestries, while robes, silk pyjamas, and smoking jackets are paired with chunky-knit shawl collars. Quilted jackets appear in geranium prints and metallic nylon, offering a modern twist on countryside essentials. And, of course, Burberry checks dominate the runway — seen in long skirts in red and green tartan, layered over matching trousers, and oversized checked scarves, the ultimate shield against Britain’s infamous winds.
Fashion Meets Art
Monday night’s show took place at Tate Britain, closing London Fashion Week with an international crowd of editors, buyers, and celebrities. The museum’s halls were transformed into a vast show space, draped in giant curtains in earthy tones — a nod to Britain’s rich history of landscape paintings and tapestries. Guests sat on chairs and sofas draped in fresco-inspired fabrics, reminiscent of the dust sheets that cover antique furniture in old country homes. “Tate Britain is an unrivalled archive of incredible art. It made perfect sense to showcase Burberry against a British backdrop for a British brand — both celebrating British creativity,” Lee reflected backstage. The show also marked Burberry’s one-year anniversary of partnership with Tate, supporting vital conservation work at Tate Britain’s world-leading Painting Conservation Studios.
British TV Celebrities take over the catwalk
For this collection, Daniel Lee assembled a cast of quintessentially British stars, familiar to locals and fans of UK cinema and television. “We looked at tropes of classic British film and television — deeply layered social observations that became powerful reference points in the new collection,” Lee explained backstage. “Through these incredible actors, we learn so much about the rules of dressing up — old rules transformed into new ones. Indoor furnishing fabrics are reimagined as outerwear. Our cast of actors embodied this bohemian irreverence. And, of course, they know how to bring clothes to life.” Among the actors walking the runway were Jason Isaacs (best known as Draco Malfoy’s father in Harry Potter and now starring in the latest season of White Lotus), Richard E. Grant (Gosford Park), Elizabeth McGovern (Downton Abbey), Lesley Manville (The Crown), and Jessica Madsen (Bridgerton). British fashion icons also joined the cast, including Naomi Campbell, Jean Campbell, and Lila Moss — Kate Moss’s daughter — adding even more star power to the lineup.
