All the World’s a Stage: Miu Miu Brings Its Tales & Tellers to New York

After casting a spell over Paris last October, Miu Miu Tales & Tellers returns — this time with a New York noir edge. On 10 and 11 May 2025, Manhattan’s atmospheric Terminal Warehouse is transformed into a cinematic maze of memory, performance, and fashion, all under the beguiling eye of Miuccia Prada.

This isn’t your standard retrospective. Conceived by the ever-unpredictable Signora Prada and realised by Polish interdisciplinaryartist Goshka Macuga, Tales & Tellers is a fever dream of film, theatre and physical installation — a kaleidoscopic journey through the Miu Miu universe, spotlighting the 35 feminist heroines from the brand’s celebrated film series, Women’s Tales. Co-curated by Elvira Dyangani Ose, director of MACBA, the project is a love letter to feminine storytelling — part opera, part art house, part runway remix.

After its Parisian debut in the neoclassical Palais d’Iéna (aka the temple of Miu Miu, where Miuccia Prada unveils her collections during Paris Fashion Week), the second edition embraces its Gotham setting. The mood: darker, moodier, more surreal. Terminal Warehouse becomes an uncanny night city, conjured by Rem Koolhaas’s OMA/AMO team — the minds behind Miu Miu and Prada’s most talked-about sets. Here, the architecture isn’t just a backdrop — it’s a narrative. Visitors journey through shadowy vignettes exploring public space, femininity, and myth.

The heart of the installation? Thirty-six eye-catching live performances breathe new life into characters and moments from seven standout runway shows — from SS22 to SS25 — and the cult-favourite Women’s Tales (launched in 2011, now spanning over 29 films), all impeccably styled in recent Miu Miu looks. Directed by Fabio Cherstich with Macuga and Dyangani Ose, these reimagined scenes splice theatre, film and immersive performance, each hauntingly familiar yet utterly transformed.

Ultimately, Tales & Tellers isn’t just about revisiting stories — it’s about rewriting them. This is femininity re-staged, re-seen, and re-spoken in Prada’s unmistakable visual language.

The public can experience the full installation — films, performances and all — on 10 and 11 May 2025, with a private preview on 9 May. Discover the full programme and register at miumiu.com.
